Meet with your Legislators!
How scary can it be to meet with a legislator when you are not fully confident with what to talk about? This comes with practice! AOTA Hill Day is a great way to start, but that event happens one time a year. Consider meeting with your local, state and federal legislators. Use some of the tips below!
Contact the office by phone or email
From experience, email is the best way to schedule a meeting with your legislator, or the staffer associated with the topic you want to address. Get the contact information for your legislator and then write an email to request a meeting.

Crash course video
A video shares some tips from an OT graduate student who navigated this process during her tenure at BU. Once live, this 1-minute video describes tips for contact and reflection on the legislator's reactions to the email request for a meeting. You will be re-directed to YouTube in a new window when you click the button below.
